Basically, every thing Lions do is either 100% Club related or 100%
Community related,
and the Medina Club keeps accounts separate for each. Some
examples of each:
We like our conventions, and socials of all kinds where members and families get together for food and fun. Some clubs have Administrative Fund-raisers such as dinners prepared for and served by members of the club, or boat rides, or golf games in order to fund their clubs convention activities. All club paraphernalia is purchased with "Admin." funds only. Examples of Admin. Income would be the Annual Dues we pay, and the "tail-twister's pot" of voluntary fines gathered during meetings.
Many of us enjoy wearing Club Vests festooned with pins and badges, representing the Lions Projects most dear to us at the moment. While the vest is an administration expense, the pins are another story. That each pin has to be sold to one Lion and never again sold, means that a Lion is wise to buy more than one, so that after trading, there's still one for the vest. When fundraising efforts involve money from the general public, even in the least amount, all of the money from that effort is "Community Funds", and can only be used for those designated projects. No money from outside the club membership is ever used for the club. There is usually lots of pin trading at the various conventions, where it is possible to trade pins from around the world. Lifelong friendships have been well met across a "Pintrader's" tray. It is gratifying to see a pin that you designed become a popular fund-raiser for it's cause.
