'medina-ny, Orleans County'

Grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins lived in Medina. Mother was born there. Polick was the last name and lived on Main street. Houseman funeral home was my Aunt Anne and Leo Houseman. Don Lepkowski(sp?) was an uncle who was a fireman there. cousins, Wally Peglow, Chi-Chi Peglow; Uncle Mac Polick many others. Loved the village of Medina and have fond memories. I am a public school educator and would love to visit Medina and bring my family to see where my mother and her family am from. It is New Year's eve 2000 and snowing here and thought of my deceased mother and found your website. If anyone knows the people I have listed above, please contact and me. Yearn for the past. Happy New Year.

It's so nice to be able to "go home" with just the click of a few buttons. Trust me, Florida is ONLY a nice place to visit! I miss the colors and smells of Autumn, the crunch of snow under those awful boots....the Christmas lights strung across Main Street....the rebirth of green in the Spring. None of that exists here in the land of endless Summer. I'm ever so thankful for the children and grandchildren that surround me here, but I thank God for the family still in Medina.....and the logical reason to make the trip home a few times a year. Thank you Medina, for the memories, the heritage and for simply never changing.

It's so nice to be able to revisit Medina at the push of a few buttons. "Home is where the heart is" and a very big part of mine will always be there. I miss the colors and smell of Autumn...the crunch of the snow under those awful boots......the new grass coming up in the Spring. Trust me, Florida is ONLY a nice place to visit. You can never replicate the sights, sounds and friends you grew up with. I'm so grateful for family (kids and grandchildren) around me here, but I thank God for those who never left Medina......they provide the ever-essential, logical reason for all those trips "home". Thank you Medina, for the nurturing, the memories for never changing.

My grandfather was born in Medina July 24, 1852. His name was James Bell. I am trying to get a birth record for him in hopes of tracking HIS parents, John Bell and Adelia Hicks.
Your twon site is wonderful, lots of information. I was surprised to learn Medina was on the Erie Canal. I'll have to see when it was built - perhaps that's why my family was there.
The family members eventually settled in the Dunnville - Brantford Ontario area. They were perhaps in the foundry business.
Hope you have lots of visitors.

Ninety-one years ago today, May 11, 2000, Mary Elizabeth Lewis was born in Medina. She was the daughter of Frank (Francis) Lewis and Margaret Faraher Lewis. Frank, a railroad laborer, died in 1920 and I believe is buried in Medina's Irish cemetary. Margaret died in 1954 and is buried in Wisconsin. Her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Lorscheider, died in 1998 and is also buried in Wisconsin. If anyone reads this with any connection to any of the people mentioned here, please contact me. Thank You.

Hello Medina. Work is proceeding on the proposed radio station for your community. I have had some temporary setbacks with some of the equipment and financing. For the next two weeks we'll be testing a new and better transmitter that will offer superior range and audio. I plan on returning to Medina by mid May to look for employment in your area to get this off the ground. I'm sorry that I am not a big company with lots of money to throw around but I believe that if the station makes it to the airwaves that you will be pleased with the sound and programming and that you will be willing to actively participate and support your station. I am planning on broadcasting the station over the internet 24/7 giving Medina and Orleans County a voice to the World! Feel free to visit the new website that I am developing at www.wilw.com I have plans to start several of these legal low power stations in your area and this site will help promote each station and the Orleans County area. Thanks again for your show of support in the survey and let's hope that I can find suitable employment to get us started.
