Wishing Happy Holidays to everyone in Medina from Georgetown, MA. It's Christmas Eve, which always makes me think of home and the charm of a Christmas in small town America. I'm here with my wife Patty, and my two sons, Patrick (5) and Ryan (4 on 12/29). I'd love to hear from MHS grads from the early-mid 1980s! Note to the Webmaster: consider researching and posting information on these "paper welders" and "automatic chairs" I keep reading about in past posts. I'm beginning to get as intrigued by them as the people posting....

Hello. Happened to find this page on Google. I was born in Medina General in 1950 and I went to kindergarten at Ensign School I believe. We moved to Orlando in 1956. My dad's family owned Taylor Bros. Furniture Co. We lived on Worthy Avenue (157 I think). Have fond memories of Medina via family photos and memories. Hope to visit sometime soon, and have enjoyed "visiting" via the Web! Thanks! Dean

Hello! I was born in Medina in 1961 & baptised at St Mary's. I was back in the area from the Columbia River Gorge in the NW in 1999. I wept when I saw that the statue of Mary was still there, I still have my 1st Communion picture with it when it was part of a beautiful grotto. Please stop by and leave a flower for me. Hope everyone in Medina is well, I miss WNY most in the autumn. I went to Oak Orchard School in the 60s and left Medina for Lockport in 7th grade. Kevin & I moved to Oregon in 1985, then across the Columbia River to Washington. My boys love the stories about growing up around the Canal & the adventures we had when I lived on East Shelby Rd. Take care, Medina, my best to you all! Sandy (French) Moore

Hello. My name is Stiffy the SnowSpondy. I have visited your site as part of my "Run Across the Internet". I am attempting to visit 10,000 sites in 100 days in order to raise awareness of Ankylosing Spondylitis, a chronic degenerative rheumatic disease that affects the spine and neck, often making the joints and vertebrae stiffen and fuse together. People with AS often have chronic pain and gradually lose flexibility and range of motion in their joints until they can not turn their heads or bend their backs. It's like being in a straitjacket for the entire rest of your life. To learn more, please visit my two favorite sites: The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA): http://www.StopAS.org and the AS online Support Group, Spondyville: http://www.spondyville.com Your pal, Stiffy the SnowSpondy SnowSpondy@aol.com

Ancestors (Daniel and Eleanor Goose) settled in Medina after arriving in America from England in the mid 1800's. Their daughter, Hannah Eleanor Goose married William Edgar Resseguie of Ridgeway. They were my great grandparents. My grandmother Laura Eleanor Resseguie Jones was born in Ridgeway, moved to Michigan where she married, then settled in Oklahoma my home state. I have been very impressed with the the Orleans county web site, the Ridgeway site, and Medina site. There is valuable genealogical info on these sites. Thanks for the good work!

I'm searching for Alexander C. Derzejewski, a resident of Orleans County, who was a crewman on the captured German submarine U-505 in 1945. Mr. Derzejewski was a friend of my father, Ralph Duncan, who was also a crewman on the U-505. I am writing a book on the U-505 and would like to include Mr. Derzejewski's memories. I have been told that he might have changed his name after the war.

Happy Mother's Day to my little childhood town. I grew up in Medina starting at age 6 (I was born in England - moved first to a farm on Million Dollar Highway and then to 816 West Center Street). I graduated with the Class of l968. My father was Sydney William Mayell, who passed away in March of 1980. Would anyone recall him now? He pastored the Universalist Church in Middleport, NY, for the last few years of his life. I have not been back since 1978. I imagine it looks quite different now. If anyone can post some pictures of the town to the web, it would be great.

I'm trying to find out about my great grandfather, Edward McGreevey (or Horan), who lived in Orleans County, in New York working on a farm from about 1855 until 1862. Edward came to the area from Roscommon, Ireland around 1855. He was eighteen years old at the time. Edward married Mary Ann Hanlon whom he met in Orleans County. Mary Ann was also from Roscommon, Ireland but had not known Edward until she came to the United States. They were married Sept.6, 1862, in the Diocese of Medina, New York. I'm trying to find out who Edward and Mary Ann listed as parents on their marriage certificate, if of course it was listed. The witnesses to the wedding were Catherine Rice and Michael Lahey. There may actually be some of those names represented in your area to this present day. Just curious. Thanks for any information you might have on the above. -- Ed McGreevey
