1972 United Way Leaders Conference
The symbol was designed to convey United Way as a contemporary
organization, sensitive to the changing needs of our society. To graphically
depict the intent of the organization, a person was placed at the center of the
symbol, supported by a hand beneath a rainbow, symbolic of the hope and promise
that are made possible because there is a United Way.
